The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted health and safety issues. Additional protocols were quickly adopted in workplaces across the country, including maintaining a distance between employees and customers, wearing masks, and sanitising. Reimagining their workplaces enabled many employees to work remotely or behind physical protective barriers in offices. The pandemic enhanced society’s resilience as everyone did their best to keep one another safe.
Workplace injuries or fatalities have devastating consequences for organisations as well as co-workers, families, and the wider community.
The enhanced focus on workplace safety during COVID-19 is an opportunity to improve health and safety in our workplaces long after the pandemic has passed. Employers need to remain updated on government regulations and to ensure that all threats in the workplace are contained.
